My First Routine — Daily Routine Cards for Toddlers

Toddlers who know what comes next have fewer meltdowns. Not zero — but fewer.

These 30 routine cards turn daily chaos into a calm, predictable flow — from wake-up stretch to goodnight hug.
Each card is built around a specific developmental skill: decision-making, body awareness, early math, emotion recognition, and more. Every card includes a "Why this works" explanation for parents — so you know exactly what your child's brain is doing at each step.

Based on a systematic review of 50+ studies linking family routines to better emotional regulation, fewer behavioral problems, and stronger social skills in young children.

Why It's Different

  • Not just cute pictures — every card includes a science-backed explanation for parents
  • Cards other routine charts don't have: "Silly Faces" for emotion recognition, "Tidy Up by Color" for categorization, "Name 1 Happy Thing Today" for positive recall
  • Every "Get Dressed" is a choice card, every "Brush Teeth" has a counting twist — routines that teach, not just remind
  • Curated set of 30 cards matched to 1.5–3 year old development, not many generic pictures for all ages

How to Use

Print the cards on cardstock. Cut along the lines. Laminate for durability.

Choose one of the two routine boards, attach it to a wall or fridge at your child's eye level. Add velcro dots or magnets to the back of each card.

Start with 4–5 morning cards and 4–5 evening cards. Let your child move the cards from "To Do" to "Done" as each step is completed. Add more cards over time.
